Burning Bras with Wal-nuts

My family has come to it senses. We are not participating in the normal routine of Christmas gift giving. First, not many of us are ‘believers in the Lord all mighty” and second if we were, I’m not sure the gift giving ritual would be approved by Jesus. So, this leads to our collective decision, no gifts. It’s actually been very relieving. There is only one draw back and this having to explain in depth to some that we aren’t doing it and we don’t want gifts. Most of our families are out of work or struggling to get by, so it works out for them. But for those that can’t imagine Christmas without gifts, it’s a longer discussion (our younger kids). Looking back at the time I spent stressing about what to get people that I hardly knew and how much to spend on them, the event seems even more ridiculous. Not having to worry about it has made me realize how unnatural and forced the celebration of Christmas had been. So, no more, not for me. We will be visiting family and spending time together, but without the pressure of buying and without forcing people to work all year to pay off credit cards on our account. So burn you wrapping paper, shred your bows and feel the relief, you deserve it!

I was all like WTF!

So I have this kind of relative that has this kind of husband that asked his wife to email me and ask if I would take the photos of his wife off Facebook. The photos happened to be in Photo Booth that happens to be real fuckin’ fun. Well, at first I was amazed that it would even be an issue, then I was amazed that people like this breed, then I was amazed at the immaturity, so I made them private. After some thought, I made them public in my completed Photo Booth album and was tempted to write a little note about growing up and life is full of bad pictures (I have a couple of him that I was going to post). The reason for this post is because this collection of star dust that whines about Facebook pictures, this collection of dust just SUCKS!

Educating the masses.

I’m taking classes at the university towards a physics degree (which I should be studying for right now) but instead find myself wondering if this is something I want to dedicate this much effort and time to. I have been back and forth on whether to attend and what for. So this spring I am not attending college. I have always wanted to learn but have felt I’m stuck in a rut, thinking that I have to attend classes and formally get credit to learn. Lately, I thought maybe there are other ways of learning, maybe I need to take time and explore those options. Honestly, the crap you have to deal with in high school is the same for undergraduate college (from what I’ve experienced). The mundain faculty, the busy work and the fluff surrounding attending college is frustrating. I think it fits right in with most of students coming out of high school, but that’s not me. I think it’s supposed to be like this because our education here in the US is not about ‘education’, it’s about farming along the groups of people to become a strong workforce, while the real workforce plugs away at their jobs to keep the economy ‘alive’. There is little to none nurturing of thought and exploration. When the overall goal of companies is profit and the overall goal of ‘workers’ is big screens, education is broken down to fit nicely in the package from Macy’s with a bow. Now that I’ve exhausted the same old argument of education, I can turn and walk away from something that has been so in grained and take time to reflect and learn on my own. Two weeks left…

Sit Down, Stand Up

Swaying in your seat, it might make you feel nauseous. Who knows?
You hear your bell, run.
You feel your time coming, deadline.
Green light means move, fast.
Blocks of time, breeders feeding on each others.
Dollars broken for change, get on.
It’s time. Time.
Living with the means to defend your interests while plugging away at your assignments. Worthless if you don’t make it to that goal. Someday, my love, you might make it. Keep trying, on my clock so I can reap from you what the next person wants to give me. Answer this, talk that, make this, go there. Oh, are you thinking? Are you wondering what this might be? Are you wanting to do your best? Fool it’s nothing for nothing. Walk away, be broken, be you. And know you have done nothing well cause your progress is worthless.
